Pexep is prescribed for conditions such as depression, obsessive-compulsive disorders, panic attacks, social anxiety disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, and posttraumatic stress disorder. Being an SSRI, it can help rebalance serotonin levels (a natural brain chemical) with ongoing use, which can alleviate symptoms of anxiety and depression.
Pexep is typically taken once a day or as recommended by your healthcare provider. It can be ingested with or without food, usually in the morning. The tablet should be swallowed whole without chewing or crushing. Common side effects of Pexep include upset stomach, drowsiness, fatigue, agitation or anxiety, difficulty sleeping, vivid dreams, dry mouth, and changes in appetite or weight.
It may take 2 to 4 weeks for Pexep to achieve effective levels in your system. Inform your physician and pharmacist if you have allergies to this medication or any other medications. Additionally, provide your healthcare provider and pharmacist with a list of any prescription or over-the-counter drugs you are currently taking or have taken in the last two weeks.
Notify your doctor if you have or have previously experienced glaucoma; an enlarged prostate; issues with urination; seizures; hyperthyroidism; or liver, kidney, or heart conditions. Also, inform your physician if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or are nursing. If you become pregnant while on this medication, contact your physician right away.
If you are scheduled for surgery, including dental procedures, let your surgeon or dentist know that you are taking Pexep. This medication may cause drowsiness, so avoid driving or operating heavy machinery until you are aware of how it affects you. Keep in mind that alcohol consumption can enhance the drowsiness associated with this medication. Inform your physician if you smoke, as cigarette smoking may reduce the effectiveness of Pexep.
Avoid unnecessary or extended exposure to sunlight, and consider wearing protective clothing, sunglasses, and sunscreen, as Pexep may increase your skin's sensitivity to sunlight.
